What is a pre-EoC RSPS?

Pre-EoC means before the Evolution of Combat, the update of 20 November 2012 that replaced RuneScape's old combat with abilities. A pre-EoC RSPS recreates RuneScape from before that date. Servers are often named after the game version, or revision, they're built on: 508 (2008), 634 (2011), or 718 (July 2012), the last version before EoC.

Who it suits

Players who miss a specific era of RuneScape: its combat, its interfaces, and content like Dungeoneering that Old School RuneScape never got. Also players who want the old combat system with more content than OSRS offers.

What to look for

Which revision or era the server is built on. What content from that era actually works. Whether it mixes eras, for example old combat with newer items. Which client it uses, and how active the player base is.

How this list is ranked

By votes cast this month. Anyone can vote for a server once every 12 hours, for free and without an account, and the ranking starts over on the 1st. Votes can't be bought, and ads never move a server up the list.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 718 server pre-EoC or RS3? Pre-EoC. Revision 718, from July 2012, was the last version before the Evolution of Combat.

Is pre-EoC the same as OSRS? No. OSRS grew from a 2007 version and went its own way; pre-EoC servers cover the real game up to 2012. See the OSRS list.

What does the revision number mean? It's the game-client version the server copies. A higher number means a later version of RuneScape.
