RuneList Toplist Update: A New Chapter in Security and User Experience

The RuneList team has been working tirelessly to enhance our Toplist system over the past weeks, and today, we're excited to announce some major updates! As you know, the Toplist is a core feature of RuneList, and ensuring that every user has the best experience with it has always been our top priority.

Unfortunately, recent events have seen a surge of invalid votes—more commonly known as Votebots. This has been disheartening for our team, as we strive to maintain a fair and transparent environment for all servers. To address this issue head-on, we decided to focus heavily on securing the Toplist, ensuring that every vote counts and is legitimate.

New Security Measures in Place

Starting today, we're thrilled to unveil an updated Toplist security system. We've completely overhauled the codebase, implementing a variety of improvements to stop the stream of invalid votes. One of the major features in this update is a custom Captcha system designed to combat Votebots and ensure that only genuine users are voting.

But that’s not all! We’ve also made several other adjustments to improve the Toplist functionality and provide a smoother user experience. These updates are part of our ongoing effort to make RuneList a secure and trustworthy platform for everyone.

Resetting Votes for October

Due to the high volume of Votebots targeting our Toplist last week, we’ve made the decision to reset the votes for all servers. This ensures a fair start for everyone going into October, allowing servers to compete on an even playing field once again.

While this update is a big step forward, we recognize that the fight against invalid votes isn’t over yet. Rest assured, we will continue working on refining our systems to detect and block any future attempts at invalid voting. The security and integrity of the RuneList Toplist is, and always will be, our top priority.
